Project T Cancellation: Dead by Daylight PvE Spin-Off Fails to Impress in Unsatisfactory Player Testing
Dead by Daylight’s Project T Cancelled Due to Unsatisfactory Results
Behaviour Interactive has pulled the plug on its four-player co-op spin-off, Project T, after early player testing yielded disappointing results. The game, developed by Midwinter Entertainment, aimed to create a PvE experience set in the Dead by Daylight universe, where four players would take on new enemies, The Thrall, using guns, trucks, and talismans.
Aiming for Early Feedback
When Project T was announced in May, Behaviour Interactive revealed it was still in its early stages of development. To gather fan feedback, the company launched an Insider Programme, allowing players to test the game and provide input. Unfortunately, the responses weren’t overwhelmingly positive.
Insider Programme Insights
According to Behaviour Interactive’s statement, the company wanted to involve players early on in the development process, which led to the creation of the Insiders Program. This approach allowed the team to get early validation on the project’s core design and gameplay. However, following the playtest in July, the team conducted a thorough internal risk assessment, which ultimately yielded unsatisfactory overall results.
Cancellation and Gratitude
The developer announced the cancellation of Project T on social media, expressing gratitude to fans for their support throughout the journey. The statement read: “It’s with a heavy heart that we announce that Project T has been cancelled. We want to thank you for your support throughout this journey.”
Other Dead by Daylight Spin-Offs
Project T’s cancellation comes as another Dead by Daylight spin-off, The Casting of Frank Stone, launched earlier this month. Developed by Until Dawn creator Supermassive, the narrative adventure received three stars from Eurogamer. Additionally, What The Fog, a free two-person co-op roguelite, was briefly made available.
