Pope’s Eco-Friendly Tank Ride: Electric G-Wagen Unleashed

The People’s Pope Takes the Wheel of the New Electric G-Class

Mercedes-Benz has been providing vehicles for the Vatican for decades, and it’s no surprise that they’ve now delivered an all-electric version of their iconic G-Class to the Pope. Dubbed the "Popemobile," this eco-friendly G-Class is a testament to Pope Francis’ commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions.

Based on the Mercedes G580 with EQ Technology, the Pope’s Popemobile features four electric motors, one for each wheel. While the regular G580 packs a punch with 579 horsepower and 859 lb-ft of torque, it’s unclear whether the Popemobile’s configuration will produce similar figures or has been tuned for more laid-back cruising. The Pope’s environmental advocacy has been well-documented in his encyclical, "Laudato Si," so this all-electric ride is a natural fit.

Take a peek at the images below, and you’ll see just how sleek and imposing this vehicle is. Whether on city streets or rugged terrain, the Popemobile exudes a sense of purpose and style.

Pope Francis, known as the "People’s Pope" for his humility and willingness to connect with the faithful, might just have an even more memorable reputation thanks to this stunning ride. Maybe it’s just us, but we think what the people really want to see is the Pope rippin’ it on some Italian off-road trails in this new Popemobile.
