OnePlus Nord 4 teardown reveals very bad reparability
The OnePlus Nord 4 brought back the metal construction of the rear, something that’s been missing from the smartphone world for a few years now. That definitely makes it stand out in a sea of devices with glass and plastic backs, but as it turns out it also makes it stand out in a different way – its very poor reparability.
That is the conclusion we can draw after watching the teardown video you can see below, which highlights just how hard it is to repair the Nord 4. Because of the metal back, it’s very hard to get into the phone. Even going through the glass bit at the top results in damage to the housing.
Prying off the metal is the most complicated part of any repair. After that, things become easier. In the end, the Nord 4 receives a 4 out of 10 reparability score, where 10 would be most and 0 would be least reparable.

The screen is the hardest to replace, receiving a 0.5/2 score, which is identical to the score for the internal design and organization. Parts availability, ease of battery replacement, and ease of replacing other, miscellaneous parts, each get a 1/2 score, and thus we’ve reached 4 out of a maximum possible 10.
