Once Human Season 2 Review: Disappointing Feedback Causes Demoralizing Effect
We asked the developer behind NetEase’s survival horror game, Once Human, about its second season, and all we got was a “quite demoralising” response. Yeah, things haven’t been great with Season 2, judging by the feedback the devs have received. In an attempt to salvage the situation, the team has listened to player concerns and pledged to address some of them in future updates.
Despite the negativity, the developer is still committed to prioritizing player opinions and actually wants to make good on those promises. So, what’s changed? Apparently, the team is sorting out two major issues plaguing the game right now: weapon builds and scenario tags. It seems a lot of players thought some of these features were implemented poorly, while others weren’t happy with the availability of high-difficulty tags.
To fix these problems, the team will introduce a blueprint conversion system, allowing players to essentially swap out armour and weapon ratings to better fit their playstyle. As for scenario tags, the studio is inviting players to chip in with their thoughts again, because, you know, it’s always best to get it right, right?
I gave Once Human a modest three-star review when I first got my hands on it – it’s a fun little open-world scavenge-em-up, but, you know, it needs some work. And you know what? Since my review, NetEase has really ramped up those premium in-game purchases.
In other news, Once Human’s mobile port will start testing on September 19th. But until then, we’ll all just have to wonder – will it support crossplay? Hmm, unlikely.
