Nintendo 64’s 4K Revival Crashes in Smartphones Amidst Leaked Kindle Anxiety
We’re in the Tech Release Frenzy, and It’s Not Slowing Down!
The tech world is in the midst of a flurry of exciting releases, and there’s no signs of it slowing down anytime soon! This week has been a wild ride, with Apple, Google, and Oppo dropping some major announcements.
In the midst of all the hubbub, two particular stories caught my eye. Want to know more? Keep reading!
Winner: Analogue’s 4K N64 is Here (Sort Of)
Analogue, the company behind the magical GameBoy recreation, Pocket, is back with its latest project: the 4K N64. This device aims to bring classic Nintendo 64 games into the 4K era, and it’s been fully detailed. The Analogue 3D is a tiny console that uses FPGA technology to recreate the original N64’s processing power, allowing for 4K upscaling of those old-school 3D visuals.
Imagine playing GoldenEye in stunning 4K goodness on your modern TV! The best part? You can still use your original N64 controllers, or opt for Bluetooth pairing for a seamless gaming experience. The Analogue 3D is set to retail for $249.99 (around £190) and will be available for pre-order on October 21, with a release date in 2025.
Loser: Leaks Jump the Gun on the Biggest Kindle Launch in Memory
We’ve been eagerly awaiting new Kindles since our review of the Kobo Libra Colour earlier this year. And, finally, the wait is over! The Kindle Colorsoft is here, along with a range of other new e-readers. While we haven’t had the chance to fully test them out, the Colorsoft looks like the perfect device for cookbooks and graphic novels.
But the launch was a bit of a letdown, thanks to those pesky leaks. UK retailer John Lewis accidentally revealed the Kindle (2024) before the official release, including details on battery life, storage, and pricing. Not to be outdone, Amazon’s Spanish site then temporarily unveiled the entire range, including the Colorsoft, along with pricing and images. It’s a shame the excitement was spoiled, but we’re still excited to put the new devices through their paces.
Stay tuned for more in-depth reviews of the new Kindles, including the Coloursoft, Paperwhite, and Scribe.
