New Adventure Awaits: Astro Bot’s Free DLC Update Coming This Year
The upcoming DLC update is shaping up to be a real treat for fans of speedrunning and competitive gaming. Not only will it introduce new maps designed specifically for speedrunning challenges, but it’ll also bring leaderboards and PlayStation-themed bots to rescue. Just don’t expect it to be a massive expansion like Elden Ring‘s Shadow of the Erdtree – Doucet assures us it’s going to be a more modest addition.
I’m particularly stoked about the new challenge levels, which should appeal to players who enjoyed Astro Bot but were looking for something more demanding. The original game’s challenge levels were already a great way to test your skills, with gauntlets that require constant movement and puzzle-style levels that need a more cerebral approach. I can already imagine speedrunners getting their hands on this DLC and having a blast.

As you might have noticed, some games like Rayman, Stellar Blade, and Croc were already hinted at in Astro Bot‘s credits, even though they weren’t directly referenced in the game. So, it’s no surprise that we’ll see characters from those games making an appearance as the DLC’s new bots. I’m also holding out hope for a Final Fantasy-themed bot – it just feels like the right fit, you know?
The Astro Bot DLC doesn’t have a firm release date just yet, but Doucet promises it’ll drop sometime this year. I’m already counting down the days.
