Musk’s Reign: Can Anyone Halt the Entrepreneur President’s Impact?

Elon Musk’s Masterplan: A Coup d’État or Just Another Day in America?

Elon Musk has a remarkable ability to determine which rules are actually enforced in America. And it appears that the Delaware Chancery Court is the only real entity in the entire American government, at least according to the past two weeks. But let’s take a step back and try to make sense of the chaos.

A Quick Recap

In recent weeks, President Donald Trump was busy creating divisions through tariffs and squandering water resources. Meanwhile, Musk pushed out the head of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Reports flooded in about federal employees receiving an "fork in the road" email reminiscent of Musk’s Twitter ultimatum, encouraging them to resign. A group of teenagers, some actual, reportedly accessed the US Treasury systems (read-only, allegedly). Longtime civil servants were locked out of the personnel systems containing personal data for government employees. Musk’s associates control the Office of Personnel Management and the General Services Administration, while obtaining classified information and shutting down the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

The Coup d’État Revelation

Musk’s latest statements suggest that he "deleted" a department, but let’s be real, he’s a known liar, so take that with a grain of salt. With the pace of events, the general confusion among government employees, and Musk’s penchant for posting, it’s impossible to keep up with the latest developments. Just between the time this article is published and when you read it, more chaos is likely to ensue.

The Clear Goal: A Coup d’État

Based on the events transpiring, it appears the aim is to overtake the administrative state. For those who didn’t pay attention in civics class, our government’s system of checks and balances relies on Congress controlling spending. Musk’s original role was to recommend programs for Congress to cut. Now, it seems he’s hell-bent on gaining control over the government.

Two Unions Sue the Treasury and Scott Bessent

Two unions, the AFL-CIO and the SEIU, are suing the Treasury and Scott Bessent to halt the unlawful disclosure of personal and financial information to Elon Musk.

The Question of Efficiency

We’re supposed to pretend that this is all about efficiency and cost-savings, not Musk’s personal feuds. How posting to X at all hours of the day is efficient is unclear, but it’s just one of the many minor questions in this surreal scenario. And when I say "this scenario," I mean that Elon Musk is going to do whatever he wants, post about it on X, and threaten anyone who attempts to stop him with a US attorney.

Donald Trump’s Approval

Donald Trump, Musk’s puppet, has stated that Musk won’t do anything without his approval. Sure, okay. I don’t see what difference that makes. We all remember "executive time," don’t we? This man only wants to golf and watch TV.

A New Sovereign Wealth Fund

A new sovereign wealth fund is being created, which might be a wonderful opportunity for Musk and his Silicon Valley friends to siphon off government money, no longer being used for wasteful purposes like Meals on Wheels or the Head Start program. And Musk’s struggling X could be propped up by making it the official source of government communications.

What’s Good for Musk?

What’s good for Musk isn’t good for the rest of us. His factories are notoriously unsafe places to work, as reported by employees. After buying Twitter, he drove out security professionals, making the platform more vulnerable to fraud. And SpaceX has been busily polluting Texas waters. Throughout the years, he’s been clear: he’ll do whatever he wants, no matter the consequences.
