Minecraft Switches to Regular Updates, Confirms PS5 Version for Enhanced Gaming Experience

Minecraft’s Developer Mojang Is Shaking Things Up, and We’re Here for It!

Mojang, the masterminds behind Minecraft, have recently announced some exciting changes to their content release schedule. Instead of dropping a massive update every summer, we can expect smaller, but still super cool, drops throughout the year. This means more new content for us to dig into more often!

In a recent blog post, Mojang shared their vision for Minecraft’s future, and it’s all about giving us what we want: fresh new content, more frequently! They’ve actually been testing this approach for a while now, and we can already see the fruits of their labor. Take the December 2023 update, for instance, which turned pots into functional storage containers and gave bats a visual makeover. And remember the Armored Paws update in April, which introduced armadillos, wolf variations, and wolf armor? Yeah, they’re definitely on the right track!

But that’s not all, folks! Mojang is also putting their focus on long-term initiatives to ensure Minecraft continues to evolve and thrive long into the future. Oh, and did I mention a native PS5 release for Minecraft is coming our way? No official word on when, but we’re stoked it’s happening!

And get this – Mojang’s also working on improving the multiplayer experience, making it easier for us to connect with friends and join forces. Because, let’s be real, what’s Minecraft without a little multiplayer magic?

But wait, there’s more! Minecraft Live, the annual stream celebrating all things Minecraft, is getting a makeover, too. Instead of happening once a year, it’ll now be a bi-annual event, keeping us posted on the latest features, upcoming updates, and exciting news from the Minecraft universe. And, as an added bonus, Mojang is retiring the mob vote, which has been getting a bit…controversial.

“We’re super excited for a future of Minecraft where we can share more features with you, more regularly,” Mojang said. “And where your suggestions become a reality. We hope you’ll join us for another fifteen years – and hopefully, even more!”

And in case you missed it, Warner Bros. Pictures recently gave us a first look at their live-action movie adaptation of Minecraft, starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black, but, let’s just say, it’s not exactly blowing our minds… yet. The movie is set to hit theaters on April 4th, 2024.

What do you think about these changes? Are you stoked to see more frequent updates? Share your thoughts with us!
