Given Apple’s past pattern of releasing MacBooks in October, this seems like a realistic timeline. The new M4 series, including the M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chips, will power the upcoming slate of Mac hardware releases.
What’s New in the M4 Series?
Gurman predicts a budget 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro codenamed J604, as well as two higher-end options: a 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro (J614 and J616) featuring the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips. A new iMac (J623) with the M4 chip is also rumored, which might switch to Type-C ports.
Other Mac Releases to Watch Out For
The shrunken Mac Mini (J773) is expected to see two new SoC variants, M4 and M4 Pro. As for the MacBook Airs, Gurman predicts an M4 upgrade in the first quarter of 2025. The Mac Studio (J575) and Mac Pro (J704) are also expected to launch in the coming year, with the former possibly featuring the M4 Ultra chip and a low-end M4 Max variant.
