MacOS Sequoia Pop-Ups Solved: Apple’s Fix and Permanent Solution

macOS Sequoia: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Apple’s latest operating system, macOS Sequoia, has been out for a month now, and users are already experiencing a major annoyance. To protect user privacy, the OS displays pop-up messages about app permissions, but this feature is becoming a persistent problem.

The Problem with Constant Pop-Ups

These pop-ups are so frequent that even Vercel CEO Guillermo Rauch, who posted about the issue on Twitter, couldn’t resist commenting, "Steve would have had an aneurysm." The criticisms don’t end there, with a dedicated Reddit thread highlighting the issue, with one user saying, "It’s only been a day and I’m feeling completely overloaded by the number of pop-ups in macOS Sequoia. Seriously, it’s starting to feel like using Windows all over again."

TheFix: Update 15.1 and Marked Apps as "Trusted"

Apple is working on addressing this issue in an upcoming update, macOS Sequoia 15.1, which will use Apple Intelligence to reduce the number of pop-ups and mark trusted apps. But, if you can’t wait for the update, there’s a temporary solution – the new app Amnesia, which allows you to turn off monthly reminders for Screen Capture Access on an app-by-app basis. The best part? You can donate as you see fit!

But That’s Not All – iPhone Owners, You’re Not Immune Either!

macOS Sequoia isn’t the only problem plaguing users. A recent security bug created issues with multiple security products, including enterprise solutions like CrowdStrike and Microsoft Defender. Mac VPNs like ExpressVPN are also still affected. And, some users are experiencing USB connectivity issues, where their Mac’s ports don’t detect USB sticks or chargers immediately.

So, What’s the Verdict?

If you’re considering installing macOS Sequoia, you might want to hold off until the updates are rolled out. For now, it seems like Windows users, who have learned to do the same, have some company!
