Live from Space: Historic Twitch Stream from the International Space Station on February 12

NASA Set to Host its First-Ever Twitch Stream from the International Space Station
In a groundbreaking event, NASA will be hosting its first-ever Twitch stream from the International Space Station (ISS) next week. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration made the exciting announcement on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, and shared some valuable insights on what viewers can expect from the stream.
A New Frontier in Space Communication
“This Twitch event from space is the first of many,” said Brittany Brown, who directs NASA’s Office of Communications Digital and Technology Division. “We spoke with digital creators at TwitchCon about their desire for streams designed with their communities in mind, and we listened. We’re committed to hosting more Twitch-exclusive streams that showcase our remarkable spacewalks, launches, and landings, as well as engaging new audiences and igniting their passion for space exploration.”
Meet the Astronauts
The stream will take place on the ISS, roughly 250 miles above Earth’s surface, and feature appearances from NASA astronauts Don Pettit and Matt Dominick. Don, currently aboard the ISS, and Matt, who recently returned to Earth after participating in NASA’s Crew-8 mission, will regale viewers with stories about daily life aboard the ISS and the fascinating microgravity experiments being conducted on board.
Citizen Science and STEM Education
During the stream, Don and Matt will highlight ways for Twitch users to engage with NASA, including citizen science projects and STEM programs designed to inspire the next generation of astronauts. These innovative initiatives aim to encourage young people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Artemis Generation: A New Era of Space Exploration
The Artemis Generation refers to the astronauts who will explore Earth’s moon as part of NASA’s Artemis Program. “We will collaborate with commercial and international partners and establish the first long-term presence on the Moon,” the official Artemis Program website reads. “NASA will land the first woman, first person of color, and first international partner astronaut on the Moon using innovative technologies to explore more of the lunar surface than ever before.”
A Stream Like No Other
This unique event marks not only NASA’s first-ever Twitch stream from the ISS but also the first-ever NASA event designed specifically for their Twitch platform. The stream will take place on NASA’s Twitch channel on Wednesday, February 12 at 8:45 AM PT / 11:45 AM ET. Don’t miss this thrilling opportunity to get a glimpse of life in space and learn about the latest scientific discoveries and adventures from the comfort of your own home.
