Introducing Xbox Game Pass Standard: Unlimited Gaming for $14.99/Month

Xbox Game Pass Standard: A New Addition to the Xbox Family

Microsoft has officially launched its Xbox Game Pass Standard tier, offering a more affordable subscription option for gamers. After a brief testing phase with Xbox Insiders last month, the new $14.99 per month Game Pass Standard subscription is now available, featuring a vast library of games and online console multiplayer access. However, this tier does not include immediate access to day-one game releases, a perk reserved for higher-tier subscriptions.

Background on Xbox Game Pass Standard

Microsoft first announced this new tier in July, alongside price increases for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. As part of this change, existing subscribers of Xbox Game Pass for Console will still have access to day-one games, but new Game Pass subscribers will have the option to choose between four different subscription tiers: Core, Standard, PC, and Ultimate.

Xbox Game Pass Lineup

The new Xbox Game Pass lineup offers a variety of options for gamers:

Xbox Game Pass Core: Access to a rotating library of over 100 games
Xbox Game Pass Standard: Access to a rotating library of games and online console multiplayer access for $14.99 per month
Xbox Game Pass PC: Access to a rotating library of games on PC and online multiplayer access for $14.99 per month
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: Access to a rotating library of games, online console and PC multiplayer access, and day-one game releases for $24.99 per month

First-Party Xbox Games and Release Timing

Xbox Game Pass Standard will eventually get new first-party Xbox games and other titles, with some games taking up to 12 months or more to be added to the library. This means that if you want day-one titles, you’ll need to opt for PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which offer immediate access to new releases.

What’s Next for Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass Standard is set to arrive just in time for the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on Game Pass in October. With this new subscription option, gamers have even more choices when it comes to accessing their favorite Xbox games.
