Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster Pricing Revealed: A 20-Dollar Boost Expected
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered: Be Prepared for a Price Increase
As fans eagerly await the arrival of the Horizon Zero Dawn remastered edition on October 31st, a surprise price hike may have caught some off guard. Sony has quietly increased the price of Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition on the PlayStation Store from $20 to $40.
The Price Increase: What to Expect
While the original game has been available for $20 online since 2018, the price jump took place on September 25th, just one day after the remastered version was announced. The increased price was spotted by gamer @GamePittReviews, who shared the news with their followers.
New Players, Be Warned: A $10 Upgrade for Existing Owners Only
Those who already own a copy of the game can upgrade to the remastered edition for $10, regardless of whether their copy is disc or digital, or whether they play on PlayStation or PC. However, new players will have to pay the full $50 for the remastered version if they want it digitally. Sony’s original blog post reads, “For new fans, the game can be purchased for $49.99 on PlayStation Store, Steam, or Epic Game Store.”
A Cheaper Alternative: Disc Copies and PC Keys
While the price increase may be a shock, it’s still possible to grab a copy of the original game at a lower cost. You can track down an old disc copy or a PC key, and Sony explicitly states that even the original PS4 disc copy will work as-is, assuming you have a PlayStation with a disc drive.
Upgrade or Buy the Original? The Choice is Yours
The remastered edition promises “stunning new visuals and enhanced features,” and you can get a glimpse of the new visuals in the announcement trailer below. Whether you decide to upgrade or stick with the original, the world of Horizon Zero Dawn is sure to remain an exciting one.
