Google Pixel 9a Leak Exposes Shocking Loss of Timeless Design Element
Google Pixel 9a Could Shake Up Design, Ditch Camera Bar
In what could be a significant change for the Pixel series, the upcoming Google Pixel 9a might ditch its signature camera bar, commonly referred to as the "visor." According to recently leaked images from Android Headlines, the mid-range Pixel device may feature a dual camera array that is almost flush with the device’s rear panel.
While the design language of the Pixel 9a has yet to be confirmed, the report suggests that it will have the same boxy design as the Pixel 9. This boxy design may result in larger display bezels, similar to the Pixel 8a.
Camera Array and Other Key Specifications
The leaked images give us a glimpse into what to expect from the camera array. Although the specific details are not available yet, it appears that the Pixel 9a’s camera setup will have the same layout as the Pixel 9.
Additionally, the report reveals that Android 15 will come pre-installed on the Pixel 9a, making it one of the earliest devices to get the update. Google is also committing to providing seven years of updates for the Pixel 9a, in line with its strategy for other Pixel devices.
Under the Hood: Tensor G4 and Performance
According to the report, the Pixel 9a will be powered by the last-generation Tensor G4 processor, which was co-produced by Google and Samsung. It’s rumored that Google will be working with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) for its future chip-making needs. The device is expected to come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
What’s Next? A Spring Launch and CAD-based Renders
The Pixel 9a is not expected to launch until next spring, but it seems we have a better idea of what to expect. Android Headlines, in partnership with OnLeaks, have shared CAD-based renders that give us a closer look at the device’s design. These renders often accurately predict the final design, so it’s likely we’ll see something similar on the official release.
Check back for more updates as we get closer to the Pixel 9a’s launch.
