Fitbit Introduces Free Daily Readiness Score to All Watches and Trackers for Enhanced Performance and Wellness Insights

Fitbit’s Daily Readiness Score is Now Free for All Users

With the latest update, Google has made the daily readiness score available for free to all users, no longer requiring a Fitbit Premium subscription. This score provides an overview of your physiological state, helping you gauge whether your body is well recovered and ready for a challenging workout or if it needs more recovery time.

What’s Behind the Daily Readiness Score?

The score dates back to 2021 and is calculated based on Heart Rate Variability (HRV), recent sleep, and Resting Heart Rate (RHR). This means that your score is not based on what you did yesterday, but how your body responds to it. For example, even after several days of light activity, your daily readiness might be low if your RHR is elevated or your HRV is lower than usual, indicating your body is working harder to recover.

New Levels and Calculation Method

The daily readiness score has been updated to include new levels:

  • Low: 29 or lower
  • Moderate: 30-64
  • High: 65 or above

The calculation method has also changed, taking into account your body’s recovery signals. This ensures that your score is more tailored to your individual needs.

What’s Changing for Existing Users?

If you’re an existing Premium user, you may notice some changes to the way your readiness score is calculated. The “way your readiness score is calculated to make it more tailored to your body’s recovery signals” means that even after several days of light activity, your daily readiness might be low if your RHR is elevated or your HRV is lower than usual.

Changes to the Fitbit App and Wearable Devices

After updating the Fitbit app, the readiness score displayed on your device might change, and your sub-scores may no longer appear. The Daily readiness tile might also display “No score” while your new score is being calculated. Check back later to find your updated score.
