Exclusive: Google Reveals Factory Images of Pixel Watch 3 ‘Solios’ and ‘Seluna’ Models
Ahead of tomorrow’s launch, Google has quietly released the factory images for the Pixel Watch 3 – and we’re getting a sneak peek!
Google is sticking to its usual format, distinguishing between the 41 and 45mm sizes, and whether the watch has Bluetooth/Wi-Fi or LTE connectivity. This is similar to how they’ve handled past years’ Pixel Watch releases, with the entry-level model codenamed “solios” and the cellular version “seluna”.
Update: It looks like “seluna” is a portmanteau of “selene” (the Greek goddess of the moon) and “luna” (the Roman equivalent), and “solios” is a combination of “sol” (the Roman equivalent of Helios, the Greek god of the sun) and “helios”. Google loves referencing ancient mythology!
Here are some fun facts:
* Selene: the Greek goddess of the moon
* Helios: the Greek god of the sun
* Sol: the Roman equivalent of Helios
* Luna: the Roman equivalent of Selene
And here are the official factory images:
* “seluna” for Pixel Watch 3 (LTE) — 14.0.0 (AW2A.240903.001.A3, Sep 2024)
* “solios” for Pixel Watch 3 (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi) — 14.0.0 (AW2A.240903.001.A4, Sep 2024)
The Pixel Watch 3 is running Wear OS 5, based on Android 14, and is already on the September 2024 security patch. That’s ahead of the original Pixel Watch and the Pixel Watch 2, which are still waiting for their September security patch!
The Pixel Watch 3 factory images join the recently released Pixel 9 series.
