Exclusive First Look: Huawei Mate XT Tri-Fold Unveiled in Stunning New Promo Video

Here’s the scoop on Huawei’s tri-foldable Mate XT, set to drop on Tuesday, September 10th. We’ve already spotted it in the wild, and let me tell you, it’s a real head-turner. When fully opened, this bad boy boasts a massive 10-inch screen that’s an astonishingly thin 5mm. And of course, it’s rocking Huawei’s own HarmonyOS and an octagon-shaped camera module on the back.

Richard Yu, Huawei’s consumer chief, is practically giddy about this new device, saying, “This is a product that others might have imagined but couldn’t bring to life. We’ve turned science fiction into reality. Stay tuned for Huawei’s masterpiece!” The Mate XT is rumored to pack 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

We’ve got a teaser video to drool over, which shows the phone’s rear panel – it’s made of a fancy leather-like material, FYI. For a split second, we get a glimpse of the internal display, and it looks stunning. Just a heads up: this phone won’t be available in the States, and even if you import it to the UK, it won’t be running Google Play services.

As for the price, speculation suggests it’ll cost around $4,000 – that’s twice the cost of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6. But hey, with two screens to play with, maybe the crease issue won’t be so bad. Huawei’s ability to innovate despite the sanctions is impressive, so we’ll have to wait and see if they’ve come up with a solution.

One mystery still remains: which Kirin chip will power the Mate XT? Huawei’s 5G chip design is impressive, but it’s limited to 7nm production – that’s two generations behind the competition. We’ll have to wait and see how this all plays out. Check back on Tuesday for the latest on this groundbreaking tri-fold phone.
