Dodge Hornet Electric Racing Concept: Revving Up the Competition
Dodge is about to make its electrified racing debut this weekend in the Nitrocross Series, and we couldn’t be more excited! The brand’s first-ever electric vehicle, the Dodge Hornet, will be competing in the Group E class, with a total of four rallycross cars hitting the track. One of these cars will be piloted by the talented Lia Block, making her the first-ever woman to compete in the class.
Dodge has teamed up with the successful Dreyer & Reinbold Racing (DRR) team for the series. With a strong track record of winning, DRR has taken home back-to-back Nitrocross Group E driver and team championships in the last two years. The new race car is dubbed the Hornet R/T FC1-X.
But what makes this electric rallycross car so special? For starters, it’s powered by four axial flux motors that generate a combined 1,070 horsepower. That’s equivalent to nearly 2g of acceleration from a standing start and a 1.4-second 0-60 mph time! The car also features a tubular chassis, carbon-fiber chassis tub, Alcon braking system, and adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars. It’s a beast on four wheels!
Lia Block will be joined by Robin Larsson, Fraser McConnell, and Andres Bakkerud, all of whom have impressive racing credentials. What’s even more remarkable is that Block is the youngest-ever competitor in the class at just 17 years old. She’s following in her late father’s footsteps, who was a motorsports enthusiast. Block is looking to build her own racing legacy while honoring her father’s.
The 2024-2025 Nitrocross season kicks off this weekend at Richmond Raceway in Virginia. The series will be televised on Fox, and you won’t want to miss it! Stay tuned for more updates and insights into the world of electric rallycross racing.
