Discover the Bold and Sultry Flavors of Buffalo Trace’s Hottest 2024 Whiskey Release

Buffalo Trace Traveller Whiskey: A Truly Great Whiskey

I’ll admit, I’m usually skeptical of celebrity collaborations. They often promise more than they deliver. But Buffalo Trace has a reputation for consistently producing high-quality whiskeys, so I was willing to give their Traveller collaboration with Chris Stapleton a chance.

Chris Stapleton, in particular, comes across as a down-to-earth, no-nonsense kind of guy. His savvy brand-building efforts, including recent partnerships with Filson and other brands, have earned him a reputation for thoughtful curation. So, I was curious to see how his take on whiskey would turn out.

What’s most important to me, though, is how this whiskey tastes. And, I’m pleased to report, it’s a real treat. The complex nose and palate surprised me, showcasing a level of quality that’s hard to find at this price point. Of course, some transparency about the blend’s ingredients would be nice, but this is a great whiskey that’s worth considering, especially at $40.

Will it stay on the shelves at this price? Given its quality and the reputation of its parent brand, Buffalo Trace, it’s probably only a matter of time before demand drives up the price. So, grab a bottle while you can.

Tasting Notes: Traveller Whiskey

On the nose, Traveller has a bourbon-influenced aroma, with notes of vanilla, caramel corn, oak, and a hint of spice. While it’s not outright labeled as a bourbon, this nose is unmistakably bourbon-inspired.

On the palate, things get interesting. I’d argue it’s smoother than Tennessee whiskey, with a light corn sweetness that’s balanced by a hint of toffee and vanilla, carrying over from the nose. The mouthfeel is creamy, suggesting the presence of wheated bourbon in the blend, and the finish is spicy, leading into the conclusion.

Overall

If you’re looking for a smooth, easy-drinking whiskey at an affordable price, Traveller is definitely worth a try. With its blend of bourbon and wheated bourbon, it’s a great choice for those who prefer a milder whiskey experience.
