As we kick off 2025, Google CEO Sundar Pichai is excited to share the company’s plans for new AI-driven products and features. In an email to employees, Pichai hinted at the “products and features [Google is] rolling out in the next few months,” with the “progress [being] amazing.”
What’s in Store?
Some of the exciting updates and features on the horizon include:
* Daily Listen, a personalized podcast that discusses stories and topics you’re interested in, now being tested in Search Labs
* Gemini 2.0 Flash, set to enter general availability for developers in January
* NotebookLM Plus, coming to Google One subscribers in early 2025
* Gemini 2.0, expanding to more Google products, such as AI Overviews in Search, early this year
Google I/O and Beyond
Pichai’s note to employees also mentions the “urgency of this moment, how rapidly technology is evolving, and our opportunity to reimagine our products and processes for a new era.” With Google I/O typically taking place in May, it’s likely that we’ll see even more exciting updates and features unveiled during the event.
Supporting Devastated Communities
Unfortunately, Pichai’s note also touches on the devastating wildfires affecting Southern California. Google has started an employee matching program and will support relief and recovery efforts with funding through its Google.org philanthropic arm. The company has published a post detailing its efforts to provide critical safety information and resources to those affected.
Staying Ahead of the Curve
As technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, Google is committed to staying ahead of the curve and reimagining its products and processes for a new era. With AI-driven products and features on the horizon, it’s an exciting time to be a part of the Google ecosystem.
