If you’re tired of the hassle of sharing files through Quick Share, Google has got some good news for you. A new "Receive" floating action button (FAB) has been rolled out for Files by Google, making it easier than ever to receive files.

What’s the Receive FAB?

The new FAB, spotted by 9to5Google, features a Quick Share icon with the word "Receive" to the right. It sits underneath the Scan FAB at the bottom of the Files by Google page. When you tap on the Receive FAB, it will make your device temporarily visible to everyone for the purpose of receiving a file via Quick Share.

How Does it Work?

When you tap on the Receive FAB, you’ll be warned that your device will be temporarily visible to everyone for file sharing. You’ll also be given the option to accept the sharing request. With this new FAB, what took a couple of steps to make your device visible for sharing has been reduced to simply tapping on a button.

When Can You Expect to See the Receive FAB?

The Receive FAB has started rolling out widely for the latest stable version of Files by Google (version 1.4955.677425801.0). If you’re not seeing the FAB, try force stopping the app from App info.

Other Updates Coming to Files by Google

This isn’t the only change coming to Files by Google. A recent APK teardown revealed that Google is testing a new layout for large screens, which is only available to devices running Android 15.
