AT&T FirstNet Subscribers Alert: $3 Price Hike Takes Effect
FirstNet’s 2025 Pricing Increase: A Sneaky Move or Just the Way the Game is Played?
As mobile customers, we’re used to seeing our plans creep upward in pricing, bit by bit. Carriers have even started to nickel and dime us with infrastructure fees, often without much warning. It seems like bigger plan changes are usually openly announced, but that’s not always the case. AT&T-backed FirstNet has raised its pricing for 2025, and it’s only the latest example of this trend.
A $3 Monthly Increase for FirstNet Users
Redditor CustomerNo6626 recently spotted a notice on the bottom of their bill indicating a $3/month price increase for their FirstLine plan starting January 15, 2025. Other customers have since confirmed they’re also seeing the increase. While it’s only a $3 bump, it’s a significant change compared to the usual $0.20 to $0.40 fee increases we’re used to seeing.
The Issue of Transparency
It’s understandable that carriers need to increase prices to stay afloat, but adding bill increases without notice can feel sneaky. At the very least, we believe increases greater than $1 should be announced through multiple efforts, including text messages and email. It’s essential to prioritize transparency in the way carriers communicate with their customers.
How Do You Feel About Price Increases?
We want to know what you think about this latest development. Should carriers be more transparent about price increases, or do you think it’s not a big deal? Let us know in the comments!
FirstNet’s Quality of Service
To be fair, even with the increase, FirstNet’s quality of service is hard to beat. The AT&T-backed service is designed to give first responders a high-quality, high-priority service for emergency use and beyond. If you’re a first responder who needs a reliable service with truly prioritized data, FirstNet’s quality is tough to match. The bigger issue is that all carriers keep cranking up the bills without much warning, hoping people won’t notice. That’s something we personally feel needs to stop.
