Apple’s New Smart Home Powerhouse: Imminent Launch for iPad-HomePod Hybrid Hubs

Apple’s HomePad Smart Home Device: Still Months Away
Apple’s long-rumored smart home control center, affectionately dubbed the HomePad, is still in the works and won’t be shipping for months to come, according to reliable Apple reporter Mark Gurman. In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman provided an update on the Apple products in or out of the pipeline.
The HomePad, which is reportedly similar to an Echo Show or Google Nest device, is a central hub for controlling smart home devices. While some have referred to it as a HomePad, it’s expected to rely more on voice input from the next-generation Siri, rather than touch interaction. The device will also feature a camera for FaceTime calls and serve as a home security camera.
Gurman’s previous reports suggested the HomePad would have a screen roughly the size of two iPhone models placed side-by-side. It’s said to run an interface similar to Apple’s watchOS and iOS standby mode. Stock apps would include Music, Safari, and Notes, but it appears there won’t be a third-party App Store.

Does the delay really matter? After all, Echo Show and Google Nest smart displays have been on the market for years. Apple will likely target users deeply embedded within its own ecosystem. As always, the company will prioritize its loyal fans.
