Android 15 QPR2 Beta Breaks Away From Tradition with Iconic Keyboard Update

Android 15 QPR2 Beta 3: The Globe Icon is Here to Stay (for Some)
Google has rolled out Android 15 QPR2 Beta 3 to Pixel devices, and one of the most significant user-facing changes is the removal of the globe icon in the bottom-right corner when you only have one keyboard/language set.
A Brief History of the Globe Icon
In Android 15 QPR1, Google introduced a globe icon in the bottom-right corner when the keyboard is open. Tapping on it showed available languages, as well as the old "Google Voice Typing." While this feature might have been useful for some, many users, especially those who use Gboard with a single device language, found themselves accidentally pressing the globe and getting the menu when trying to tap enter. Since then, a notable number of users have been requesting an option to remove it.
A New Default Behavior
With QPR2 Beta 3, the globe button is no longer present if you don’t have a second language/keyboard app set. This is a better default behavior, as not many people use Google Voice Typing, especially with Gboard and Assistant Voice Typing (on Pixel). The globe remains present if you have another language set in Gboard, allowing you to switch between languages with a tap and accessing the menu with a long-press.
What’s Next?
Android 15 QPR2 will hit stable in March with the next Pixel (Feature) Drop, with one last QPR1 patch in February. Beta 3 feels stable at the moment.
