AI-Fueled Firm Asks Chatbots to Abstain from Teen Online Romance
Character.AI Gets a Safety Makeover, Introduces New Measures for Teenagers
In a recent move to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for users, Character.AI has implemented a series of updates focusing on the needs of its younger audience. The cutting-edge AI platform has redesigned its model to better manage interactions between teenagers and their virtual personalities.
New AI Model for Teens
Users under 18 will soon be directed to a redesigned AI model that’s particularly tailored to their needs. This model includes stricter guards to prevent romantic or suggestive conversations, as well as enhanced filters to detect any attempts to bypass these safeguards. Furthermore, the editing feature has been restricted to prevent users from sneaking around the platform’s moderation rules.
Elevated Filters and Chatbot Restrictions
The revamped AI model is designed to keep all conversations between teenagers and character personalities PG. If any topics touch on sensitive matters like self-harm or suicide, the platform immediately provides a link to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, ensuring teenagers have quick access to professional resources.
