Hyundai Ioniq 5 Off-Road Edition: 2025’s Most Adventurous EV SUV
It seems like Hyundai just one-upped Rivian by revealing their own off-roading electric hatch, the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT. This new trim joins the mid-cycle refresh of the Ioniq 5, bringing a taller ride height, all-terrain tires, and a rugged design.
The Ioniq 5 XRT comes with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain that dishes out 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque. It also gets a unique 84-kWh battery pack, but unfortunately, Hyundai kept mum on the exact range specs – my guess is it’ll fall closer to 250 miles, since those chunky tires tend to decrease battery life.
This baby’s got all the latest goodies, too – like a redesigned interior with a new climate control stack, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. And, yeah, the big news here is the addition of the North American Charging Standard (NACS) charging port, giving all 2025 Ioniq 5 models access to Tesla Supercharger stations. Nice!
As for when you can get your hands on it, the 2025 Ioniq 5 XRT is expected to hit dealerships this fall, along with the rest of the lineup. Don’t forget about those $3,500 federal tax incentives for eligible buyers (or $7,500 for leased vehicles)!
The real battle’s yet to come – imagine how this XRT will fare against Rivian’s own R3X (when that’s finally unveiled, of course). Now, the real fun will begin.
