Unleash the Power of Google: New Bottom Toolbar for Enhanced Search Experience

Google App’s Bottom Toolbar Update: A Fresh Look at Navigation

The Google app on Android has been a familiar face for many of us, and its latest update brings a new twist to navigation. If you’ve been using the Google app on your Android device, you might have noticed a change in the way the top bar looks when opening search results and discover articles. Gone are the days of a cramped top bar, and hello to a sleek new bottom toolbar!

What’s New in the Google App?

For those who haven’t seen the update, the top bar, which used to hold controls like close, minimize, site info, and page name/domain, is now replaced by a bottom toolbar. This new toolbar features three key elements: Save, Search, and Share. The toolbars are Chrome Custom Tabs, so you can still enjoy the benefits of the Chrome browser.

What’s in the New Bottom Toolbar?

Here’s a breakdown of the new toolbar:

Save: Quickly save an article or webpage for later
Search: Perform a new search directly from the article you’re reading
Share: Access the system Share sheet for easy sharing

What’s Missing?

The new bottom toolbar doesn’t appear for pages opened through Google Lens or Circle to Search, but you can still read more of the page title. You can also use the one-handed access to the system Share sheet, making it easier to share what you’ve read.

What Happens When You Scroll?

As you scroll, both the top and bottom toolbars disappear, leaving you with minimal impact on available real estate. The transition to the Chrome browser still remains straightforward.

Availability and Testing

We’re seeing this update in testing with the latest Google app beta (version 16.1.38), but it’s not yet available in the stable channel. Keep an eye out for it, and you might just get to experience the fresh new look!
