Rekindling the Fun: Fortnite Festival Brings Local Co-op Gaming Back
Fortnite Festival Gets Local Co-op Support Next Month, Bringing Back the Magic of Rock Band
The wait is almost over for fans of musical mayhem in Fortnite! Epic Games is excited to announce that Fortnite Festival, the rhythm-action portion of their free-to-play juggernaut, will be getting local co-op support from January 14th onwards. This means you’ll be able to jam out with up to four friends in the same room, reliving the good old days of Rock Band and similar games.
But what’s behind this latest development? Well, it’s no surprise that the masterminds at Harmonix, the studio behind Rock Band, are at the helm of Fortnite Festival. After all, they’re the ones who brought us the zany plastic peripherals and rockstar-like gameplay that made Rock Band such a staple in many gamers’ arsenals.
As you’d expect, the new local co-op feature will support guitar-shaped plastic peripherals, making it a true throwback to the good old days. And, according to the elaborate trailer featuring Snoop Dogg, you’ll be able to rock out with up to four players simultaneously, with each player able to use their own plastic guitar.
When Can You Get Your Hands on Local Co-op?
Mark your calendars for January 14th, when the new feature drops on Xbox and PlayStation. For now, Epic Games hasn’t shared many specifics about the update, but judging by the trailer, we can expect to see some serious jamming action with our pals.
What’s Next for Fortnite Festival?
This local co-op update marks the first major new feature for Fortnite Festival in 2025, following Epic’s promise to support the mode "through 2025 and beyond" in December last year. This comes as a relief, especially considering the lukewarm reception to the game’s Rocket Racing mode, which was introduced alongside Fortnite Festival and Lego Fortnite in 2023.
As the current Snoop Dogg-themed season comes to a close, we can expect a fresh start with the next season, which will likely feature Hatsune Miku, the popular Vocaloid popstar, as the latest featured artist.
Stay Tuned for More Fortnite Festival Updates!
With local co-op support on the horizon, it’s an exciting time to be a Fortnite Festival fan. Keep an eye out for more updates as they emerge, and get ready to rock your way into the new year with your friends and family!
