Can Huawei Overthrow Apple and Samsung as the Next Smartphone King?
Can Anyone Overthrow Apple and Samsung in the US Smartphone Market?
The Current State of Affairs
For years, Samsung and Apple have dominated the US smartphone market, holding a staggering 80% share. It’s not uncommon to see people flocking to either the Galaxy or iPhone camp, with other brands struggling to make a dent in their sales numbers. According to Counterpoint Research, Lenovo’s Motorola brand takes the third spot with a 14% market share. However, other sources claim a much lower figure, and Google’s Pixel series barely cracks the top 10.
The Carrier Conundrum
One major reason Americans tend to choose iPhones and Galaxies is the carriers. Most people in the US buy phones through their carrier, and many carriers offer limited options outside of the market leaders. However, all major carriers do offer Pixels, which raises the question: is there something more at play?
The Challengers
Motorola and Google are well-positioned to challenge Apple and Samsung. HMD, the company behind Nokia, is also gaining traction. Its partnership with big carriers likely plays a significant role in its success.
Can Anyone Overthrow the Champions?
So, do you think Motorola, Google, HMD, or another brand has what it takes to overthrow the current champions? What about OnePlus and Nothing, which have achieved success worldwide despite limited impact in the US? Do you think other brands have better chances?
