Getting the Most Out of Your New Google Pixel

Congratulations on your new Google Pixel! With so many features to explore, it can be overwhelming to know where to start. Here are a few tips to help you set up and get the most out of your new device.

Update the OS and All Apps First

Before you dive in, make sure you’re running the latest OS. Go to Settings > System > Software updates > System update > Check for update. While Android is installing, open the Play Store > tap your profile image in the top-right corner > Manage apps & device > Update all. This will ensure you have the latest versions of default apps, like Pixel Camera.

At a Glance

At the top of your homescreen (and lockscreen) is At a Glance, which displays day/date and weather. You can customize this section by long-pressing on it and tapping the settings gear icon.

App Grid

Below At a Glance is the app grid, which provides quick access to your most used apps. You can customize this grid by long-pressing on an app and rearranging it to your liking.

Pixel Camera: Quick Access Controls

For more control over your camera, go to Camera Settings > Quick access controls. This will allow you to have sliders for White Balance, Brightness, and Shadows on the left/right edges of the screen after a tap.

Battery Saver

To conserve battery life, go to Settings > Battery > Battery Saver > Schedule and reminders. This will help you stay on top of your battery life and make adjustments as needed.

Additional Tips

  • Customize your notification shade by long-pressing on a notification and dragging it to the top of the screen.
  • Use the Google Assistant by saying "Ok Google" or by long-pressing the home button.
  • Explore the Google Play Store for new apps and games.

By following these tips, you’ll be well on your way to getting the most out of your new Google Pixel. Happy exploring!
