Make the Most of Your Holiday Season: Get Exclusive Access to Talk to Santa with GM and OnStar

The Magic of OnStar: Tracking Santa’s Sleigh this Holiday Season

The Ultimate Christmas Eve Surveillance

Imagine having a direct line to the big man himself, Santa Claus. Well, thanks to OnStar, General Motors’ connected car service, you can do just that this holiday season. For the first time, OnStar users can use their iconic blue button to check in on Santa’s pre-flight North Pole preparations and even ask to speak with the jolly old elf himself.

A New OnStar Feature for 2024: Direct Communication with Santa

As part of a collaboration with the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), OnStar has introduced a new feature that allows users to reach out to St. Nick and find out his exact whereabouts, ask about the weather, and even plead their case about the naughty or nice lists.

A History of Tracking Santa

The idea of live tracking Santa started in 1955 with a kid and a phone. A Sears ad touted a talk-to-Santa hotline, but a newspaper misprinted the phone number. Instead of reaching Santa, a child ended up calling the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) Operations Center in Colorado. However, the Air Force commander on duty played along and assured the kiddo that he was Santa, protecting the American airspace and, eventually, becoming a festive tradition.

The NORAD Tracks Santa

Today, NORAD and its dedicated website and app, NORAD Tracks Santa, are dedicated to keeping track of Santa’s aerial hoofed herd. OnStar is joining in on the fun, offering to donate $1 to the American Red Cross for every Santa inquiry made during the promotional period, with a cap of $30,000. So, this holiday season, get in touch with Santa and make a difference.
