Unleash European Access to ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode: No VPN Required

ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode Now Available in Europe

Good news, European users! After being rolled out in the US and UK, Advanced Voice mode has finally made its way to Europe, allowing you to try this game-changing feature.

A user, Sophie Escrivant, asked about the update on X.com, and OpenAI replied, “Well yes. All Plus users in the EU, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein now have access to Advanced Voice.” This casual tweet announcement is quite unexpected, leaving us wondering if OpenAI will grant all user requests or if this was a one-off.

What is Advanced Voice Mode?

Advanced Voice mode is a revolutionary feature that lets you use ChatGPT by speaking to it, having it reply in one of its nine different voices. While the original ChatGPT already had a voice mode, Advanced Voice mode is a more natural conversation with a human-like experience. You can discuss complex topics, and even interrupt the chatbot’s responses if they’re taking too long.

Advanced Voice mode requires a paid subscription to ChatGPT Plus, which costs $20 per month ( around £16/AU$30). You get 10 minutes of free access on the free tier. To access Advanced Voice mode, tap the Advanced Voice mode icon next to the prompt window. If you don’t see the icon, update your app and take another look. The screen will then change to show a glowing blue orb, indicating that ChatGPT is listening.

All the Major Languages

The rollout of Advanced Voice mode has been slow and gradual, with the UK getting the feature long before the rest of Europe. When asked about the delay, ChatGPT commented that some parts of the world require additional external reviews before launching new products, ensuring the feature aligns with local requirements.

Now, with the slow rollout finally complete, European users can enjoy Advanced Voice mode, which can speak all major European languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Greek, Polish, Russian, Czech, and Hungarian. It even appears to work for some less-known languages, like Catalan and Spanish.

The news of Advanced Voice mode’s release was met with a positive reaction on X.com. User Prashant commented, “Finally, EUROPE can use advanced voice without VPN!” This feature has the potential to revolutionize how we interact with AI, offering a more natural and human-like experience.
