Unleash the Ultimate TV Experience: Google TV Streamers Gain Major UK Power-Ups

UK Google TV Streamer and Chromecast Owners Get New Channels Feature

Good news for those in the UK who’ve been enjoying their Google TV Streamer or Chromecast – you’ve just gotten a feature boost! With the new Channels tab, you’ll now have easy access to live feeds from various UK broadcast networks, including BBC, ITV, and more.

Thanks to a dedicated user on Threads, we’ve got confirmation that the likes of BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Scotland, and S4C, along with some lesser-known lifestyle channels, are now available to stream directly through the Google TV interface. While there’s no iPlayer app for the new Google TV Streamer (just yet), you can still enjoy this new feature on the previous generation Chromecast with Google TV models.

As of now, the feature works as follows: users need to have the streaming app installed on their streamer and be logged in with their account. Once that’s done, they can access the live stream for their chosen channel with ease. While it’s not quite the same as the Live feature in the US, which offers a broader range of channels, this is still a great step forward for those in the UK.

If you’re new to the world of Google TV, you might be interested to know that the Google TV Streamer 4K has recently arrived, bringing with it support for Google Gemini and the ability to tackle complex requests like "show me a movie that feels like a vacation". Plus, there are improvements to smart home compatibility, courtesy of the Matter standard, and faster pairing thanks to the presence of a Thread radio.

The feature will make it easier for UK Google TV Streamer and Chromecast owners to access streamed TV content without leaving the Google TV interface. It’s also a bonus for those who don’t have a digital aerial connected to their TV, allowing them to enjoy their favorite live shows without needing to use a separate streaming device.

While it’s not a game-changer in the same league as the Live feature in the US, this is still a welcome addition for UK residents. The Google TV Streamer 4K, for its part, offers improved smart home compatibility and the ability to tackle complex requests.
