Apple App Store Returns to Normal After Brief App Download Outage
App Store Issues: What Happened and Is It Resolved?
As the world eagerly awaited the release of a brand new iPad mini, Apple’s App Store suddenly encountered a major hiccup, causing widespread issues with app downloads. We’ve tracked the flurry of complaints on social media and put our iPhones to the test.
The Problem: Can’t Download Apps
When attempting to download new apps or re-download previously purchased ones, many users encountered a frustrating issue. The more we tried to access the App Store, the more we faced trouble. Our Editor-at-Large, Lance Ulanoff, and I both experienced the same anomaly – spinning icons and subsequent resets.
The Evidence: Down Detector’s Spike
According to Down Detector, a spike of over 3,000 reported outages occurred at 11:31AM ET, highlighting the scope of the issue. While the number of reported outages has decreased, we monitored the situation closely.
The Good News: Issues Resolved (For Now)
As of 12:08PM ET on October 16, 2024, the App Store issues seem to be resolved. Fingers crossed, it’s possible that this anomaly was an isolated incident, but we’ll keep a watchful eye on the situation in case it resurfaces.
