Revolutionizing the Road: Why the Supra’s Unrelenting Performance Destroys the Z4’s Legacy

Toyota Supra to Stay for the Foreseeable Future?

Good news for all you Toyota Supra fans out there! In a recent interview with Car Expert, Toyota Australia’s Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Franchise Operations, Sean Hanley, confirmed that the Supra brand isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

The Future of the Supra Brand

Hanley emphasized that there are no plans to discontinue the Supra brand, recalling its rich legacy and importance to the Toyota brand. "There is no plan to discontinue the Supra brand in this car company. I know that," he assured. However, he remains ambiguous about whether the current Supra model or the brand itself will continue into the future.

The Fate of the A90 Supra

Hanley clarifies that just because its mechanical twin, the BMW Z4, is set to be discontinued in 2026, it doesn’t necessarily mean the Supra will follow suit. "BMW is not Toyota. The notion that Supra is stopping is purely speculative," he said. "And, quite frankly, I have no expectation, sitting here today, that the Supra brand will disappear. At all."

The Supra’s Legacy

Hanley recognizes the significance of the Supra name to the Toyota brand, highlighting its 50-year history and the loyalty it commands. "The Supra nameplate goes back for years. There is a lot of legacy there. It is an incredibly important brand… If you get it right, people will start to gravitate to your brand and go ‘Wow, that’s a fun brand. They are doing well, they know what they’re doing.’"

What’s Next for the Supra?

If the A90 Supra does come to an end in 2026, which unfortunately seems likely, it’s reassuring to know that Toyota is committed to preserving the Supra nameplate and will likely introduce another iteration in the future. Fingers crossed it won’t take 22 years for the next one to arrive!
