OnePlus Foldable 2 Leak: When Can We Expect the Next Generation?

We were thoroughly impressed with the first foldable phone from OnePlus – and a recent leak might have given us a glimpse into when the eagerly anticipated follow-up is on the way.

According to tipster @RODENT950 (via Android Authority), the OnePlus Open 2 is scheduled to hit the market in the first quarter of 2025, which means we’re looking at January, February, or March. This tipster has a mixed track record, but they have been accurate with some predictions in the past.

The leak doesn’t explicitly mention the OnePlus Open 2, but it does reference the Oppo Find N5, which is expected to be rebranded as the OnePlus Open 2 outside of China (remember, Oppo and OnePlus are now part of the same company).

What Comes Next?

More information from this source suggests that the same camera system from the OnePlus Open will be used in its successor – a triple-lens 48MP primary plus 64MP telephoto and 48MP ultrawide setup with 3x optical zoom. This technology is capable of capturing very good photos and videos, so an upgrade in 2025 might not be a major surprise.

What Are the Next Steps?

For the OnePlus Open 2 to make a real impact, it would need to improve on its predecessor in some significant ways. Could we see improvements such as:

Considering the original OnePlus Open launched in October 2023, a release in early 2025 would be a reasonable assumption. This would give Oppo and OnePlus a chance to perfect the next generation of foldable technology.
