Google is rolling out a new Chromecast with Google TV update, following the recent release of the Google TV Streamer. This latest update, labeled STTL.240812.006 (from STTE.240615.007), is a significant one, as it brings the Android security patch level to September 2024.
Android Security Patch Level and Changelog
The 83.01 MB update takes the Android security patch level from July 2024 to September 2024, indicating that it addresses several security vulnerabilities. This update also includes a raft of "Other bug fixes and performance improvements."
While the changelog from Google hasn’t been updated yet, it’s expected that this update will address several issues reported by users in recent weeks.
7th Update in 10 Months
This latest update marks the seventh Chromecast with Google TV update in the past ten months, demonstrating Google’s commitment to supporting its streaming devices with regular software updates. Compared to last month’s 143 MB update, this latest update is relatively smaller in size.
Still No Home Control in Quick Settings
As of this update, we’re not seeing the Home Control feature in Quick Settings, which could be a major addition in the near future.
