Unleashing Nighttime Magic: iPhone 16 Pro’s Stunning Soccer Stadium Shots

iPhone 16 Pro’s Pro-Level Camera Magic

As a self-confessed phone photography enthusiast, I traded in my iPhone 15 Pro for the newer model in June. Since then, I’ve had my eyes glued to the lens, and the more I use it, the more I’m convinced – this phone’s got a future. The main difference for me was the Telephoto camera, specifically 12MP, which offers much more flexibility than the 5x optical zoom in the iPhone 16 Pro.

Fast-forward five months, and I recently had the chance to lay hands on the latest generation: the iPhone 16 Pro. With 5x optical zoom (thanks, "Tetrapsism" lens) and some additional tweaks under the hood, I decided it was high time to compare notes and see just how good Apple’s gone back to.

From 5x to Perfection?

The Telephoto camera’s 5x zoom capability is certainly the first thing that’ll make your head spin, as does the iPhone 16 Pro’s ability to harness 12MP photos taken using its main lens in pixel-cropping "Fusion" mode, an extension of the "C crop" feature Apple has borrowed from the world of stills photography.

On this side of things, low-light performance was more breathtaking, with an ease with which the Night mode snaps back into focus on switching modes. So there it was – one swift look and I could understand what it meant: ‘Tim Cook’ got away… The iPhone 15 has, in every which way possible, proved how impressive of a ‘Telephoto camera’ a decent and accessible camera would actually want; it’ll easily turn back into it now…

This is indeed "Back then" from back before.

A real one, too.
