Nismo Skyline GT-R Parts Revival: Luxury Heritage Meets Exorbitant Price
Nismo Revives Classic Parts for the Nissan Skyline GT-R’s 40th Anniversary
As we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Nissan Skyline GT-R, few things evoke the same level of excitement as a factory performance upgrade. There’s something special about knowing that the engineers behind the car have crafted the upgrade, giving it a unique edge over aftermarket solutions. For vintage Skyline enthusiasts, this news comes as a dream come true: Nissan is bringing back some of its most iconic parts, and we can’t wait to dive in.
A Glimpse into the Nismo Revival
On Nismo’s website, a news post reveals the incoming batch of parts, ranging from accessories to performance upgrades, all featuring the original Nismo logo. While most are designed for the R32, a few R33- and R34-compatible items make an appearance. You can expect to find items like branded radiator and oil caps, seat covers, shift boots, and titanium shift knobs, as well as reproduction floor mats and stickers to restore your classic to its former glory.
The Real Meat: Factory Performance Parts
The true pièce de résistance, however, is Nismo’s intake manifold for the RB26DETT, featuring an enlarged surge tank optimized for 400 to 600 horsepower. This is an official endorsement for cranking the boost, paired with a front-mount intercooler bearing prominent Nismo script, and an upgraded radiator to rid your car of its extra heat. There’s also an R33 Nismo 400R-derived titanium strut tower bar redesigned to fit the R32, further beautifying your engine bay.
Price Tag: The GT-R Tax
While these factory parts are undoubtedly premium, they come with a price tag that may be steep for many Skyline owners. The intake manifold alone will set you back about $1,625, while the intercooler costs $1,650. The HKS alternative is a third cheaper, but can you really put a price on authenticity? The radiator runs about $1,235, and the strut tower bar goes for $1,160. It’s titanium, after all – it’s not like any old performance shop could make it.
Order Now, Until March 31
For those who can’t resist the allure of genuine Nismo parts, orders will remain open until March 31. This gives you plenty of time to cross-shop alternatives, though you might just find yourself craving the real deal – and who can blame you?
