Revolutionary Reboot: Seiko Partners with Japanese Watchmakers to Rebirth 1924’s Groundbreaking First Wristwatch Design
Seiko x Porter Classic: A Timeless Watch Collaboration
The Seiko x Porter Classic watch is a masterclass in subtle updates to a century-old design. Instead of featuring a white enamel dial with black Arabic numeral indices and red highlights, this limited-edition timepiece boasts a black enameled dial with white indices, giving it a sleek, monochrome aesthetic.
One notable change is the subdial at 6 o’clock, which now displays 24-hour time instead of running seconds. The seconds are tracked via a white center-mounted seconds hand, while the hour and minute hands retain their curvaceous shapes from the original Laurel.
The watch features moveable wire lugs inspired by pocket watches, and it comes with two special pass-through straps made from shell cordovan leather, one in brown and one in black. These straps have additional leather to fit behind the case for added comfort, similar to a bund strap, along with extra holes for increased sizing options.
The Porter logo, depicting co-founder Katsuyuki Yoshida, appears on the caseback, alongside the serial number from 1 – 500. This limited-edition watch is powered by the Seiko Cal. 6R5H automatic movement, which offers three days of power reserve.
This Seiko x Porter Classic collaboration is a testament to the power of subtle design updates, taking a century-old design and making it fresh and relevant for the modern era.
