Boost Galaxy Performance: Exynos 2400e Benchmark Scores Revealed in Samsung S24 FE Review
The Surprising Performance of the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE: A Cheaper Alternative?
As the cost of chipsets continues to skyrocket, companies are scrambling to find affordable alternatives. The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is an intriguing example of this trend, featuring an in-house Exynos 2400e chip instead of the more powerful Exynos 2400 found in other Galaxy S24 models.
A Closer Look at the Exynos 2400e
Samsung has kept most details under wraps, but we do know that the prime Cortex-X4 core is clocked at up to 3.1GHz, slightly lower than the 3.2GHz of the regular Exynos 2400. This could impact bursty workloads, but its effect on sustained performance remains unclear.
Benchmarking the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE
We’ve conducted some preliminary CPU and GPU benchmarks to get a first look at the Galaxy S24 FE’s capabilities. In the Geekbench multi-core test, the phone performs well, with a strong score that’s comparable to other high-end devices.
CPU Performance
The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE features a 10-core CPU with a mix of Cortex-X4, A720, and A520 cores. In multi-core performance, it holds its own against other powerful devices, including the Galaxy S24+ and Xiaomi 14T Pro. The single-core test also shows impressive results, with the phone’s 0.1GHz clock speed difference making little impact on overall performance.
GPU Performance
The Xclipse 940 GPU, an AMD RDNA 3 design, proves to be quite powerful, outperforming the old S23 FE and even the iPhone 16 Plus in some tests. The Exynos 2400e’s hardware acceleration for ray tracing also gives it an edge in Solar Bay tests.
Conclusion
The Exynos 2400e is an interesting chipset that offers 90%-95% of the performance of the Exynos 2400 at a lower price point. The Galaxy S24 FE launches at $650 for an 8/128GB phone, compared to $800 for the non-e chip in the Galaxy S24 and $1,000 for the S24+. While the reduced clock speeds may impact power usage, the phone’s overall performance and affordability make it an attractive option.
