Experience Hobbit Haven: Explore the Shire with Exclusive March Events

Tales of the Shire: A Life Sim Like No Other

Get ready to immerse yourself in the charming world of Middle-earth like never before. Private Division and Weta Workshop have announced that their upcoming life sim, Tales of the Shire, will launch on March 25, 2025, after being delayed from its original 2024 release date.

A Life of Simplicity and Joy

Tales of the Shire takes a unique approach to the Lord of the Rings franchise, shifting the focus from epic battles to the daily lives of the Shire’s Hobbit inhabitants. Players will create their own Hobbit, build a cozy home in Bywater, and become an integral part of Hobbit society.

A Day in the Life of a Hobbit

  • Gather ingredients for a hearty breakfast (and second breakfast, of course!)
  • Cast a line and try your luck at fishing
  • Tend to your garden and watch your crops grow
  • Decorate your hobbit hole to make it a warm and welcoming home

But it’s not all about solo activities. Bywater will be filled with other Hobbit NPCs, each with their own personalities, quests, and stories to share. Trade rare items, seek advice on how to fit in, and build lasting relationships with the Shire’s friendly inhabitants.

A New Chapter for Weta Workshop

Tales of the Shire marks the debut of Weta Workshop’s video game division, established in 2014. While the company is best known for its work on movie effects, this marks a new chapter in their creative endeavors.

Hobbit Day and Tolkien Week

The announcement of Tales of the Shire coincides with Hobbit Day, a celebration of J.R.R. Tolkien’s works that takes place every year on September 22. This special day honors the birthdays of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, two of the most beloved Hobbits in Middle-earth.

Where to Play

Tales of the Shire will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and mobile devices via Netflix Games when it launches on March 25, 2025.
