Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2: A Sizable Update with User-Facing Changes
Google recently released Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2, which brings a slew of new features and improvements to the table. As part of our ongoing coverage, we’ve been putting the new beta to the test to see what’s changed, what’s improved, and what’s still rough around the edges.
A Closer Look at Pixel Screenshots
One area where Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2 has made significant changes is in Pixel Screenshots, the built-in screenshot utility. When you open the app, you’ll notice that captures no longer process automatically, and the familiar "Adding to Screenshots" notification is now MIA. This means you won’t see which app a capture originated from or have the ability to view the page URL when it’s a Chrome screenshot. However, you can still sort captures in Collections, add notes, and set reminders – it’s just not as seamless as it used to be.

Other Notable Features and Issues
Beyond the changes to Pixel Screenshots, we’ve encountered some other quirks and bugs in Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2. For instance:
• Screenshots not automatically processing: As mentioned earlier, captures no longer process automatically, and you’ll need to manually open one and select "Process now" to get them organized.
• Some screenshots may fail to capture: While we’ve only seen this happen once or twice during our testing, some screenshots may not capture at all. You’ll get a system warning message when this occurs.
• Lockscreen bugs: There seem to be some issues with the lockscreen, such as the two lockscreen shortcuts not appearing after a reboot or the Wallpaper & style editor being buggy. A Force stop from the App info menu can usually resolve these issues.
• Camera and Google Home Controls issues: When using the camera on the lockscreen and then exiting by swiping up on the gesture handle, Camera or Google Home Controls may relaunch after a moment. Closing apps by swiping on the left/right edge can usually resolve this.
