Love-Hate Obsession: The 45mm Pixel Watch 3 Review – Is It Worth the Controversy?

The Larger Pixel Watch 3: A Bigger Conundrum than Expected

Two generations ago, the Google Pixel Watch family focused on smaller sizes, but things have changed. The recent Pixel Watch 3 is finally introducing a larger 45mm size, which has left me with a conflicting feeling.

I wasn’t initially sure how to feel about this new bigger option. At first glance, it might seem larger than the smaller 41mm model, but on my wrist, it wears surprisingly well. The comfort level is not drastically affected, which was a primary concern. Battery life didn’t suffer, and that extra screen real estate opened up more opportunities for engaging with apps.

However, there’s an elephant in the room – the lack of third-party band support. With the updated connector only working with the 45mm model, finding alternative bands might be quite the challenge. As a long-time Pixel Watch fan with a collection of compatible bands, rebuilding my accessories stash would cost me significantly.

It’s a significant conundrum for Pixel Watch enthusiasts like myself – give up the familiarity, comfort, and compatibility I’ve grown accustomed to or adapt to this new 45mm option. Each choice comes with its unique set of advantages and challenges.

So, what about you? Do you opt for the new 45mm Pixel Watch 3 or stick with the tried and tested 41mm design? Let me know.
