Reviving the Frenzy: Flappy Bird’s Official Return to Android and iOS in 2025
The Rebirth of Flappy Bird: A New Era of Gaming
From Viral Sensation to Classic Revival
It’s hard to believe it’s been over a decade since Flappy Bird, a mobile game, went from obscurity to viral hit, before eventually becoming a cautionary tale for its creator, Dong Nguyen. Since then, numerous developers have cashed in on the game’s success by creating countless clones. This year, however, Flappy Bird will make a triumphant return under new ownership – thanks to the Flappy Bird Foundation.
A New Team, Same Passion
The Flappy Bird Foundation, a self-proclaimed “new team of passionate fans committed to sharing the game with the world,” has acquired the official trademark rights, as well as the rights to the game and characters in Piou Piou vs. Cactus, the 2011 game believed to have inspired Flappy Bird.
What’s Coming Next?
The new Flappy Bird is set to launch on multiple unannounced platforms this fall, with Android and iOS versions planned for 2025. Initially, the game will be exclusively playable on Telegram, though this detail has since been removed. We’ve reached out to the Flappy Bird Foundation for more information and will update when they respond.
Bigger and Better
Unlike the original, which focused on simple high scores and quick reflexes, the new Flappy Bird appears to be much more robust, boasting new game modes, character skins, progression, and multiplayer challenges. The team behind the Flappy Bird Foundation promises to “revamp the game’s ecosystem while maintaining the familiarity of the game design that was enjoyed globally.”
A Fresh Take
“We’re beyond excited to be bringing back Flappy Bird and delivering a fresh experience that will keep players engaged for years to come,” said Michael Roberts, chief creative behind the new Flappy Bird, in a news release. “We have big plans for our little Bird!”
