AirPods Pro 2: Latest Features Unveiled Ahead of iOS 18 Launch
AirPods Pro 2 Gets a Significant Boost Ahead of iOS 18 Release
While Apple may have kept the AirPods Pro 3 under wraps at their recent "It’s Glowtime" launch event, AirPods Pro 2 are getting a notable upgrade, and sooner than expected.
Enhanced Features with iOS 18
In anticipation of the iOS 18 release on Monday, Apple has released a firmware update for AirPods Pro 2, which includes features promised as part of the upcoming operating system.
Revolutionary Siri Notifications
The update introduces the ability to respond to Siri notifications with a simple nod or shake of the head. For instance, you can answer an incoming call by nodding your head, or decline it by shaking your head to divert the call to voicemail. Apple explains, "Move your head up and down or side to side to accept or decline calls and to interact without speaking or using your hands."
Ideal for Busy Lives
This feature is perfect for situations where you don’t want to speak out loud, such as on your daily commute or while your baby is sleeping at home.
Improved Voice Quality with Voice Isolation
The firmware update also brings a new Voice Isolation feature, which ensures your voice sounds crystal clear during calls and recordings. Even in windy conditions or areas with loud background noise, advanced computational audio technology works its magic to deliver crystal-clear sound.
Other Notable Features
The AirPods Pro 2 firmware update is part of the iOS 18 preview, which also introduces a new feature on the AirPods 4, announced on Monday.
Update Status
The new firmware version, 7A294, replaces the current 6F8 version and should be automatically installed via an over-the-air update. However, it’s not yet universal, and our AirPods Pro 2 still runs the older firmware.
Check Your Firmware Version
To see which firmware your AirPods are currently running, head to Settings > Your AirPods > About and look for Version. Unfortunately, there is no simple way to manually update the software.
