Ram 1500 Stability Control Recall: 1.2 Million Trucks Under scrutiny for Safety Concerns

Remember when electronic stability control (ESC) systems were all the rage and promised to save our lives from our own mistakes behind the wheel? Well, it turns out that a chunk of Ram 1500 pickups might not be as safe as we thought.

Stellantis has just issued a massive recall, affecting over 1.2 million Ram 1500s from model years 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2024. Yeah, you read that right – all those years, not including 2020, for some reason. If you’re wondering what kind of magic is behind this oversight, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has your back.

According to their report, the issue stems from a software malfunction in the ABS module, which basically cripples the entire ESC system. And that’s no laughing matter – the risk of a crash is pretty high when you don’t have this crucial safety feature working in your corner.

So, what’s the fix? Well, not-so-great news is that this recall requires an actual trip to the dealer for an update. However, on the bright side, customers who’ve already coughed up cash for a faulty ABS module repair should be eligible for a refund.

As a nice cherry on top, you can expect a notification letter in the mail around October 3 if your vehicle is affected. Just be glad this isn’t a more serious issue – especially since you never know when you might need that little bit of extra help behind the wheel.
