Turntable Maker Ditches Vinyl Focus, Embraces Wireless Speakers and Smart Home Technology ~ SC-CX700
Meet Technics’ Game-Changing First Active Speakers
Technics has just dropped its first-ever active speaker system, the SC-CX700, and it’s making some big waves in the audio world. With a price tag of $3,000, it’s positioning itself to take on the likes of KEF’s KEF LS50 Wireless II ($2,500) and Bowers & Wilkins’s Formation Duo ($5,000), two of the most expensive active speaker systems out there.
So, what sets the Technics SC-CX700 apart? For starters, each speaker is individually amplified, which means you’ll need to plug each one into its own power outlet. They’re also roughly the size of bookshelf speakers, making them a bit smaller than those more expensive rivals.
Under the hood, the SC-CX700 speakers feature Technics’ proprietary coaxial driver and full-digital JENO-Engine amplifier. The cabinets are cleverly designed to minimize vibrations, with a Smooth-Flow bass port on the front to really bring out the low-end goodness.
According to Technics, the result is a “stunning, dynamic sound that can fill any room.” And with an HDMI eARC connection, you can even use them as a soundbar alternative.
