Introducing the Trackable Wall Power Plug: Unique Find My Compatible Solution

Imagine if you had a wall plug that knew where it was at all times. Sounds like science fiction, right? Well, Twelve South is making it a reality with their new PlugBug, a revolutionary wall charger that’s been equipped with Apple’s Find My technology. This isn’t your average wall charger – this one’s smart.

First announced at Twelve South’s annual event, the PlugBug is essentially a tracking device disguised as a charger. It comes in two flavors: a two-port 50W charger for $69.99/£69.99, or a four-port 120W charger for $119.99/£119.99. Not too shabby, if you ask me.

What sets the PlugBug apart from other wall chargers is its Find My feature. This allows you to track the device’s location on a map, ping it to emit a sound if you’re having trouble finding it, and even receive alerts if you accidentally leave it behind. We’ve seen some weird applications of Find My in the past, like tracking a drink tumbler. But this is a new level of handy.

To use the PlugBug with Find My, you simply add it to your Find My app (soon to be renamed Apple Account, I assume), name it, and link it with your Apple ID. You can then use the app to see where the plug is on a map, or ping it to help you find it. The app will even show you other Find My devices that are nearby – a nifty feature that could be useful if you’re using the plug to charge your AirPods or iPhone at a public charging station.

The design of the PlugBug is sleek and compact, with a slim profile that shouldn’t get in the way of your workflow. And with two-tone white and red colors, it’ll be easy to spot when you need it. Plus, inside is Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology for fast and safe charging – a great feature that will come in handy for those times when you’re on the go.

We’re excited to try the PlugBug and see how well it performs in the real world. If you’re sold, you can order it now from Twelve South, and it will ship on September 16, 2024, with travel adapters available separately.
